30th March 2020
From Monday 30th March 2020, the Australian Government has made available telehealth doctor consultations for ALL Australians.
Bannockburn Surgery embrace this process as it allows us to continue to care for our patients in a safe way.
All telehealth consultations will be BULK-BILLED, Medicare may decide to change this at anytime.
You may make this type of appointment either online or by telephoning the clinic on:
(03) 5281 1481
At times, face-to-face consultations will still be required and we will continue to provide this service in the safest possible way. Please note that attendance appointments to the practice will attract a fee at the discretion of the doctor.
In view of this change, we have altered our service protocols as follows:
Scripts and Referrals
All scripts and referral requests will now be handled by phone appointments. This will be bulk billed and also offers our patients the opportunity to briefly discuss the reason for your prescription or referral.
Any test result requiring follow-up will be via telephone appointment
These may be made online or via calling reception. They are ALL bulk-billed. We are exploring our options for video calling and this will be done at the Doctors discretion.
Most consultations will occur via telephone.
If during the consultation, the doctor determines that a clinic attendance is required, then the doctor will inform the patient of this and arrangements will be made.
Clinic attendance appointments
Sometimes we just need to see what the problem is in person eg an injury, need an immunisation, etc. We will continue to provide access to the clinic in the safest possible way. Clinic attendances attract a Medicare rebated fee in the same way as it has always been.
We will continue to provide a vaccination service for our patients. Influenza vaccination clinics have been set up and patients can call to book this appointments. The number of clinics available will be dependant on vaccine supply. We expect that this service will be staggered over the coming weeks and we aim to provide flu vaccination for everyone who asks for it.
Childhood vaccines are offered within our existing protocols. We ask that if your child has a respiratory infection then you should reschedule your vaccination appointment.
These changes will help us continue the high quality care for our patients and keep our patients and staff safe during the pandemic.

Thank you for your patience during these unprecedented times
